Thai Travel Clinic – who are we?

A Specialized Clinic and Leading Academic Center in Travel Medicine

Thai Travel Clinic is a special clinic in Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Bangkok, Thailand. Our hospital has operated since 1961 and it is under the administration of Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. Over the last few decades, number of travellers to Thailand has dramatically increased. Many Thai and International travellers visit our hospital for consultation about travel-related diseases. Therefore, we have established our special clinic for traveler since 2005. It is called, “Thai Travel Clinic”.

Nowadays we provide comprehensive services in area of travel/tropical medicine including pre and post travel counselling, immunization, diagnosis and treatment of tropical diseases. Because we are in the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, we can provide the comprehensive medical care both in-patient, and outpatient basis.

Moreover, as an academic institute we also play major roles in education and research. Our staffs are invited as lecturers in various courses including DTM&H, MCTM, Ph.D. (Trop Med). We have collaborated with many academic institutes in the world. We are also the member of GeoSentinel Surveillance Network which is the largest network of travel/tropical medicine clinics all around the world. Each year we are pleased to welcome many visiting medical students, residents, doctors and professors from many countries.

Comprehensive Travel Medicine Care

We provide comprehensive travel health services, including pre-travel consultation  and post-travel medical evaluation. As an officially authorised Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre, we issue YF certificates required for visa and entry regulations. Our team delivers personalised, evidence-based recommendations tailored to each traveller — ensuring professional and excellent care for all journey.

Expertise in Tropical Medicine

As part of the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, our clinic benefits from deep expertise in infectious and tropical diseases. This academic and clinical integration allows us to manage complex travel-related conditions and provide specialised care beyond routine vaccination services.

International Collaboration

Through active collaboration with the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM) and participation in GeoSentinel Surveillance Network, our clinic contributes to international disease surveillance and knowledge exchange. This ensures that our recommendations are aligned with the latest global evidence and emerging travel health trends.

Pioneers in Travel Medicine Residency Training

In 2014, our institute developed the world’s first recognised 3-year Residency Training Programme in Travel Medicine. Built on three pillars—Travel Medicine, Tropical Medicine, and Research Expertise —this comprehensive programme trains physicians to become specialists in the field. Apart from this program our staffs are invited as lecturers in various courses including DTM&H, MCTM, PhD.CTM

Our physicians are active educators and researchers in travel and tropical medicine, contributing to scientific publications, postgraduate training, and evidence-based clinical guidelines. We published more than 125 manuscript in peer review journals in Travel Medicine over the last 20 years.
